Magnetek originally produced this electronic ballast, which Universal Lighting Technologies later acquired and marketed under the Triad brand. Furthermore, ETS Tanning in Indianapolis private-labeled it as part number 20245. The company also supplied it under various private-label agreements to multiple manufacturers throughout the indoor tanning industry.

Production ceased after Universal Lighting Technologies’ partner factory in Mexico shut down. Consequently, this event ended the manufacturing of this long-running ballast model.

For decades, the 493B2 ballast remained the go-to solution for operating two UV tanning lamps and featured:
